Snipp-It – Privacy Policy

CTR Technologies ("we," "us," "our") operates Snipp-It ("the Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Email (for account creation, Auth0, or waitlist)
- Text you choose to summarize
- Support communications
1.2 Automatically collected
- Saved summaries
- Basic usage analytics (page views, extension interactions)
- Device/browser metadata
- Authentication logs from Auth0 (IP, timestamp)
We do not collect data from webpages unless you explicitly activate Snipp-It on that page.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate and provide the Service, including generating summaries through a combination of on-device browser-based AI processing (such as the Chrome Summarizer API) and third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI), authenticate users, process payments, send service-related communications, and protect against abuse.
We do not sell your data.
3. Where Data Is Stored
- AWS (DynamoDB, S3) for summaries and operational data
- Auth0 for authentication
- Stripe for billing information
- Third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI), solely to process text you submit for summarization.
4. Sharing of Information
We share data only with:
- Auth0 (identity management),
- Stripe (payments),
- AWS (hosting),
- Vendors that perform strictly necessary operational services.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
5. Data Retention
We retain data while your account is active.
Some summarization may occur locally within your browser using built-in AI features. In those cases, content is processed on your device and is not transmitted to Snipp-It or third-party servers.
When you delete your account, we delete your user data (including summaries) within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- access your data,
- delete your data,
- correct inaccuracies,
- request export of your data.

7. Cookies & Tracking
We may use cookies or local storage for authentication tokens and analytics.
We do not use third-party ad trackers.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit, encrypted databases, and access controls.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
9. Children
Snipp-It is not intended for users under 13.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
